thinkin about buying HP m7580n....

i been looking at the HP m7580n Athlon 64 X2 4400+

would this be a good use of my money or would i be better off building my own pc, just seems to have good specs, but i'd like some expert advice please gimme some imput

Its not bad for the money. However, if you are going to buy a HP desktop I really recommend getting into their business class stuff. They are better built and have three year warranty on them standard and cost about the same. here is a model we have at my work

The integrated graphics is not the best but you can easily remedy that with a PCI-E graphics card upgrade. Or just look into a different model.

build my own system for less than 500$ ???

my current system is embarresing. (1998) HP pavilion 7840

Intel Celeron processor- 764 mhz
320 mb Ram
4X cd burner
no upgrades at all besides the ram.


I want a system i can browse the internet and download and listen to music all at the same time, i'm sure anything would be a step up from what i got.

i'm thinking about an AMD X64 processor.. other than that i'm lost as what'd be within my budget... please help

Seriously consider the time and effort into building your own computers, you will be amazed at how simple it is and if done step by step carefully how few mistakes can be made. You could have a much better system for that money. Even consider having someone put it together for you, a co-worker or friend or even business.

Just a thought.

Bottom line, I would not pay that much for that computer.

It's not all a bad deal....in exception of the graphics card. Man, the 7300 is about out of date, like my X1300, LOL. As for expert advice, you can ask any question that you want on this site and it will get answered. Speaking of building, look at that HP as your guideline and ask yourself "what can improve on this?" I would say that you could improve the video card and I would go with a Core 2 Duo processor, Intel's C2D is whippin' that AMD stuff, no offense to AMD users, I just don't like AMD.
