Thinking about a gaming rig..

Hey all!
I'm looking for some advice on a gaming rig, I've already found the components I want (at least I think so), and I'm up for any feedback or recommendations to change any parts listed. I'm thinking of either ordering the parts from tigerdirect or newegg, depending on prices, or I might even buy one pre-built, as I have never built a computer before. I'm trying to float around $1000 for the cost.

Motherboard:
Unknown atm, I'm still pretty much a noob when it comes to a few of the internal parts, as I've never really dealt with computer hardware much. I'd like to use two GPUs, or at least be able to if i upgrade the comp in the future. I've heard of both CrossFireX and SLI, and I'm not sure which is better, and only certain motherboards have support for either SLI or CrossFireX. Help would be appreciated on this subject

Processor:
Depends on the motherboard, I'd like to go AMD if I could because of the price difference.

RAM:
Intel Extreme Edition 4096MB DDR3

Seems pretty sick, and the price is excellent. Again, I guess this would also depend on what motherboard i pick.

Power Supply:
Preferably 750 watt+, I'd like to be able to upgrade in the future without having to worry about getting a new power supply.

Sound Card:
Meh, I'm fine with onboard, not to picky about it.

Video Card:
ATI Radeon HD4870

It's a pretty sick card, I'll probably get one and maybe upgrade to two later.
Again, depends on the motherboard and whether I do SLI or CrossfireX, I may have to switch.

Case:
I'd like it to look sick, but I don't really care too much, As long as it is big enough to hold all of the stuff and room for extra.

Those are the main components, I can switch over my old HDD, I need to keep some things on there, as well as my wireless card.

Thanks all, help would be greatly appreciated.
