Thinking about starting over

Hey guys, its been a while before ive been on the forums.. but here i am

In any case I'm thinking about building a new pc..What i would do is sell the one i have now, and start all over. But before i do i need to know how much i could get out of mine. PC is in the sig..windows xp professional (ive been too cheap to get to win7).

Let me know a range on what you think i could sell for...

Since i built this computer a couple years ago, most of the parts arent on newegg anymore, but put together a shopping cart of similar items and it came to just over $600 without an OS, monitor, keyboard, mouse etc. So i was thinkin about the same..around $500 give or take.

EDIT: On second thought...maybe it would just be more worth it to upgrade my current system? The only problem with that is i feel like upgrading one thing would result in me having to upgrade more like 2 or 3 things (eg. Upgrading CPU would need a new MOBO, and also might as well do Ram then...) But this may be a better option as to cutting cost...

just a thought...i appreciate others' thoughts as well

New CPU? what is it? sorry im a little behind on the new stuff comin out..Anyone have info..or a link?
 
Sandy Bridge from Intel and Bulldozer from AMD. If you upgrade now, 1156 will be no more this time next year, 1366 probably won't either, and AM3 will be AM3+, so the next time you upgrade you would have to do near full system upgrade again.

If you were to upgrade though, I would go AM3 so you can just swap out the mobo when you upgrade (whichever AM3 chip ypu get will work on the AM3+ board), then get a bulldozer chip, then go up to whatever the new AMD board is (I will assume AM4 because of AMD's very clever naming system :P)
 
lol i see... well i can wait it out...when are they supposed to be comin out next year? spring? summer?
