Thinking about this HP..

Should be pretty nice. I have the T5300 processor and 2GB RAM in my HP and it's quite fast. Should be quite nice with the 8400M in it too.

Have fun with Vista :P

DO NOT GET AN HP!!! they are defective. Get a Dell, check out the referbished items on there site. they have great warrentys and service.

Don't be a fanboy unless you can post facts. I had one HP that died on me. The rest of my returns(if you read my stories) weren't really nessesary. As for Dell's, I worked on some not too long ago and I wasn't too impressed. These particular models got extremely hot. And one of my close friends got a Dell recently and has had some problems, such as keys on the keyboard randomly giving out.

If you're worried about such problems, look into getting a laptop though Costco. They tack on an additional year to the standard warranty as well as have a 90 day return policy.

lol. hp and dell are made by the same company - quanta

each respective company just slap their logo on.

Also just noticed this on the HP.
Availability: This item has not yet been released. You may order it now and we will ship it to you when it arrives. Ships from and sold by Amazon.com.

You never know when you will get it.

Edit:
Apart from the slight clock speed difference, the hp has better specs.

I think you'll like 15.4" screen over the 14.1". I think the 15.4" and 17" and the best sizes for laptops but that's just my opinion. And whoever said "HP's are defective" this Pavilion DV9000 runs smooth as glass. =)

Wouldn't surprise me one bit  I know my Averatec was some other brand. Rather annoying too. The thing had an upgradable processor, but the Averatec BIOS didn't support anything above a Sempron.

Back to the original question; I still say stick with Costco products. Again, they offer great return policies and warranty extensions. On top of that, I think they cover repairs after their return policy is over. Don't quote me on this, but I was thinking I read something about returning it to a store.

But seriously...what other company will give you a full refund (including shipping) within the first 3 months?!

Well I do not thin a return within three months is plausible, I will be 'silent and deep.' ;-)
