Thinking of building. Advice/recommendations welcomed.

Hey what's up? I was thinking about making a desktop that I can use for heavy gaming and music production(I can't find the specs I like on laptop systems). It must be able to run most anything pretty smooth, but it doesn't have to be the best out there. I'd like to avoid anything I don't need, and keep costs down. Budget is pretty flexible and i'm fine with waiting for quality stuff, so i'm going to get each part gradually as i'm able to. Anyways, I did some research and came up with some lists- if anyone has recommendations or advice on anything, cool.

You really only need 4gb for gaming, but audio/video production might need more. i'd stick with 8gb for what you're doing.

The 980x ain't worth the $1000 price tag. I'd stick with the 1090T if you're set on a hexacore.

The 5970 is a good card also. You might have less trouble with a beefy single card such as a 5870 or GTX 480, as well as less power draw.

Are those two processors much different aside from bus and cache stats? If it's worth saving, that's alright- just want to be sure before starting. Which mobo should I use? The Gigabyte lets me use faster memory, but less capacity. It also says "1866+", so does that mean I can use 1866 up to 2500mhz ram with it?

to be honest before you build see what you can pick up on ebay, you might be able to buy and mod something for less, I've found that is the case in the last few years.

I would think u can search ebay for laptops too i mean im not sure how easy they are to custombuild but id say go for it checking
