Thinking of upgrading my videocard, should I?

Hi guys, this looked like a good place to ask for some advice about this. I'm looking to upgrade my rig extensively over the next year or so, and this looks like the easiest thing to start with.

I currently have an ATI Radeon HD 4870 graphics card. I want to play next-gen MMO's, watch HD video and run multiple moniters on this thing. Should I invest in a new videocard? If so, what do you guys recommend? (I've been looking at nVidia's DirectX11 cards)

We'll need the rest of your system specs. CPU, motherboard, RAM, make and model of power supply, what resolution you are playing at, and budget.

ok

Motherboard: ASUS M4A79 Deluxe

CPU: AMD Phenom 2 (don't know anything else about it, sorry)

RAM:4GB DDR2 (don't know what brand)

Power Supply: 500 watt (rocketfish brand)

and as for resolution, i'm not sure. The biggest thing I'll ever use is my 1080p HD tv

Right click Computer, and hit properties. That should say what kind of CPU you have. I'm mainly looking for X2, X3, X4, and then the speed. (Number with ghz after it)

You will need to change out your power supply. It is of bad quality.

Your resolution would be 1080p.

Still need to know what you're willing to spend.

His resolution would be higher if he is adamant he wants to use multiple monitors.

Which of course alters what gpu would potentially be enough for him.

multiple monitors isn't a must, but I'd like to do so.

the CPU is an X2, and I think 3 GhZ (I don't actually have it hooked up, i've been using my laptop for a while now)

as for price, I don't think I should go past $500 for the graphics card.
