This Build Got Game?

Alright, I'm not planning on building until April or May (Quarter 2) because thats when I heard the prices will drop but heres what I've pieced together, feel free to give recommendations... Also, do you think this rig could be used for high end/ extreme gaming)

Processor
Core 2 Duo E4300 (when released - planning on over clocking a ton) will be $113...
...or E6600 (also planning on over clocking) will be $224 -
which is better for the buck?

Graphics
GeForce 8800 640 (GTS), not sure on brand to buy from (EVGA, Asus, the EVGA one looks more powerful though) about $400, but I've heard rumors of a $100 price drop...
or should I get 8800 768 (GTX)?

Memory
G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Don't know if this is good enough for high end gaming - any recommendations?

Mobo
I've been hearing a lot about the EVGA 680i ($250), but I don't think I will need SLI,
so I was looking toward the Asus P5B ($125) because it has good overclocking abilities which I will need for my processor, do you guys think it will be worth spending an extra $125 on a mobo if I'm not going to use SLI on it?

Power Supply
Any Ideas?

Hard Drive
Just need a reliable, fast one with about 300-500 Gigs of Space to store games upon

Using 26 inch HD Widescreen

Any other recommendations for parts are welcome.
 
Iam thinking... a 700w+ psu.
And a e6300 is cheaper, and OC able.
I got a 500gig and a 250gig...Using the 500 as storage...
So maybe ... you want to get a master and slave thing going.

btw you should give the budget for this kinda stuff and it will game pretty awsome max alot stuff out
 
Honestly I think it's a little early to be planning for an April/May build. By then we will be able to see ATIs alternatives to nVidia's 8 series, and the lower end Core 2 Duos with 4MB cache will also be available.

Stick with the GTS, it is way overpriced anyway, EVGA does look and probably is more powerful. As for your equipment, you definitely will want 2Gb of RAM, I will be reaching for the E6600 in April also, I think it is best buy, and probably THE BEST, notice Intel made changes to others like 6400(e.g. 6420), they just upped the L2 Cache. Intel has finally figured out, somethings are best left unfooled around with. And another thing about the 8800, you will definitely need a huge case, the card is 9 inches long(don't put ur mind in the gutter:P). You will be able to rely on a Corsair PS, get one of those.

alright, thank you, however, is there any cheaper of a Power Supply I could use, like sub $100 range... If I get a E6600 I do plan on overclocking, but not too much (maybe around 3 ghz not up to 3.4 ghz as some have said to be possible) so I do not think I will need too much power, but if you can find a very high quality PSU for the price recommend it here.
