This build looks legit to me...

According to Nvidia's site, the GTX 580 only takes in a maximum of 244w so if you divide that by 12(Volts) you get 20.3(Amps). So if I'm doing the math correctly a good 850w with 60 Amps could do the trick no problem. So you might want to sacrafice the 1000w for a better brand such as Antec, Silverstone, Power and Cooling, Corsair, etc... Good luck with your build :)

actually, we've been over this 2/3 times in other threads, there is a article where they used 2 580's and an overclocked system lkike this and the pull from the socket was only 720w or so, so a 1000w is ovrkill, go for the corsair gs800 or if modular i'd say a professional series 850 or whatever. otherwise it looks good, although there will be no benefit from spending that much on the motherboard.

You guys use the word "overkill" loosely. While it is too much it isn't overkill. Who knows what else he may run with this system later on. The biggest mistake I have ever made with any of my machines is running a psu that is good for what I currently have.

I have had to buy 3 power supplies in the past 2 years because I always ran a psu slightly over what I currently had. Guess what, I want to run another 6950.... but look at my power supply. Guess I will be on my 4th.

Very good point kennebell I do believe the people should consider future upgrades when they are purchasing a PSU, I just bought a complete system and when it came to the PSU I purchased a 900w because I know I will be running a crossfire setup eventually. Very Very Good Point :good:
