sepc?
ok im on xp
i have a 3.2ghz p4 with hyperthreading
1gb ddr ram
my pc is running at a good heat
im running windows on a 200gb IDE (soon to be sata)
is there anything else you need to know realy?

just would like some advice realy on what to do to speedup the bootup, ive played around abit with the msconfig startup options. my pc is defraged, ive cleared up disk, ive have my pc sheduled to run its checks overnight atleast once a week. My pc is virus free.

any other information you want me to provide?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Oh man thats a lot of stuff. Try and un-select what you don't want to have load at startup in the msconfig menu. Go to Run-type msconfig-click Startup and un-check what you don't need. Pretty much anything can be taken away except I wouldn't touch WINNT or System32 files. See if that helps.

Yes, those processes will make your PC boot slower, but that doesn't really seem like its an overload of processes. You do have 10 MSN conversations going so.... I have an equal amount going on my old PC.

WAIT!!!

do not just go unchecking things under msconfig. u can cause urself some probs with this method. look up what u dont know on google and see if u can uncheck them. dont go on an unchecking frenzy. a lot of things on msconfig are critical to correct startup and operation of ur computer. not just system32 files and such. BE CAREFUL!!!

starwars u gotta be careful with ur advice, or u may end up doing more harm than good. ;)

Nothing bad happend when I did it. Sorry if my advice was incorrect, but I do the same and had no problems. Like I said, I didn't touch the important files.

i know that lol, thats the main reason i posted the thread on here lol. it probably would have helped if id posted a print screen on the msconfig window, i shall do that in abit
