"This copy of Windows is not genuine" Acer Aspire-??

I have a Acer Aspire One D255E-1311. Has worked perfect and still does but now in the lower right hand corner I get the following message- "Windows-7 Build 7600 This copy of Windows is not genuine". Have tried many searches on this and it seems to be a common problem but i'm lucky in that my computer is still working very good.

I know when I first got it I wrote down the "Personal Code number" that starts with SNID. Is this computer going to crash or is there something I should do and why am I getting this message now after months of buying this Acer netbook? Thanks!

As wolfeking as mentioned, you could be infected as I have encountered one issue a few years ago that an infection caused this to happen or its possible that your activation file as become corrupt. Have you tried doing a system restore prior to this happening?

You should download and run malwarebytes and hijackthis and post your logs so we can be sure your not infected.

I had this same problem. A windows update bug caused it, so I just did a system restore. Fixed it with no problems. :)

This means your version of windows is an illegal copy.. Either you used an illegal disc or someone else did. Malware could have done it but that's doubtful.

hmmmm, well then a system restore maybe? Or reinstall windows.. But there is way to check if it just so happens to be an illegal copy. The file is called LegitCheckControl.dll
You can remove it to fix the problem temporarily (if my idea is accurate.)

It happen and in one of my friends.

If window is geniue (or not but have "patch").

And infected by virus , then some memory "patch" progrmas stop to work correctly, such WGA of microsoft.

The best way is to install a updated antivirus or boot from cd-rom and insert your cd antivirus. Most of case will clear the mess..
After clear , install and one anti keylloger guard.
Such ad-aware lavasoft pro (no free) or "i hate keyllogers"(but you need manually to find and install some missing visual basic 6 runtimes libraries "dll")
