This is baffled me and is driving me nuts!

Hello all, i have recently bought a brand new HP Pavilion 6310uk desktop pc. I have upgraded so here are the specs:

- AMD Athlon II x4 630 (2.8GHz)
- 4GB RAM
- ATI Radeon HD 5770 (1GB)
- 1TB 5700RPM HDD
- Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit OS

I think that's all you need to know, now onto my problem.

Well basically the things runs EXTREMELY damn slow. It takes about 5 minutes to start up and when i first open Mozilla Firefox it took 2 minutes today to open up after being clicked. I have 857GB of my HDD left which is loads and i don't have much on here. Also even when its up and running and I open my computer for example the box is white and takes a few seconds to load whats in the window. But the strange thing is games run extremely well because of my GPU so there not slow, its just the general computer. My PC should run extremely fast because of the components i have in it. Please help as it is soooo annoying and strange. There are 4 user accounts on the PC but each don't have very much things on them.

PS I have even put my PC theme to windows classic so it doesn't have to load Aero, its still bloody slow!

Right click on the Taskbar==> select Task Manager==> click on performance tab: how much cpu is being used and how much memory? How long have you had it? Try getting avg free 11 and run a virus scan, also get malwarebytes anti malware. I'd say start there.

When you say upgraded, do you mean you added the 5770. Everything else looks pretty much stock. Did you install the latest AMD/ATI drivers for the 5770?

I think you need a faster HDD. Consider a small SSD and use that 5700 HDD for storage.
