This is quite hard to believe

Well, Intel themselves decided to pit their future "mainstream" CPU with an FX-60....the results show a HUGE difference in performance. Intel did not allow the reviewers to see any settings on either machine and the FX-60 was supposedly overclock to 2.8Ghz so I have some doubts. I am not an AMD fanboy but this justs seems too good to be true. Either Intels new architecture is f**king awesome or something is fishy. I would like to see how well the future AMD AM2 socket will perform with DDR2 memory.

A quote from the site
Our benchmark session used a pre-production Conroe 2.66GHz processor with industry standard DDR2-667 memory. This will actually be a classic 'mainstream' configuration for Conroe. When Conroe is launched, it will be supporting DDR2-800 memory and we have not seen Intel's Extreme Edition version of Conroe yet (which is rumored to be closer to 3GHz at least).

here is the link, tell me what you think:

300fps increase on FEAR at max....?????// just from cpu?????? whhooooohhhh
see wat u mean hard to believe

ill take 2 please

I bet the conroe will bet the AM2. It beat the FX60 oc'd to 2.8Ghz by a landslide, and i've heard that the AM2 wont be a whole lot better than the X2 series, so i bet Intel will be the best at gaming and multitasking when this new cpu comes out.

Queue the fanboys!

fanboys? im sorry, but the proof is there. intels new chip performs better, and personally so far i prefer AMD.
the conroe chip is very similar to pentium M and pentium III architecture, and is going to be superior for gaming. personally im going to switch over depending on prices and reviews.

I will do later research on AMD and Intel to see who comes out on top next time I decide to make a better gaming rig. AMD will have to kick in the big guns to get ahead if this turns out to be true. I am gonna wait for the Conroe to be released and have the true results.

the proof is there
actually some of the critical information was hidden. I wouldn't be surprised if Intel did some optimization to make it look faster. I know the Pentium D CPUs are really fast and stuff but...thats an extreme difference between the super high-end and what Intel says is "mainstream". Also, most of the timedemos were custom made by Intel. This seems very dubious but I'll do some more research on this.

this is going to be one interesting year :) 2006 = revolution of the cpu's :D
damn thats some good architecture: Pentium III strikes back! haha

LOL, every year is the revolution of the CPU. Last year it was dual core this year it is conroe vs. AMD 5000+ - (what ever they come out with). It will never end.

Please god tell me they are LGA 775. Please. Please. I WANT ONE! Oooooh, ill be soooo happy if it is, I thought i messed up big time with an intel gaming rig, but if its 775, cue the fun!

Imagine the speed of the thing o/ced :D

Mind you, its gona be Effing expensive if i can outperform a o/ced FX-60, that £700. The base model is gona be around £800!

EDIT: They arnt 775, i can tell :(

EDIT (Again :D)

Is there pins or not on it, I cant really tell:

EDIT (Yet again)

Seems it will be on LGA 775! However, on a 975 Chipset, hopefully theres gona be a BIOS Flash for nForce 4 Boards!
