Glad I dont play any of those types of games... Waste or time and money if you ask me...
What is this? I don't even
is this about wow or something?
No different than a hobby. Some people look at gaming as a hobby, like myself. Ain't nothing wrong with it.
I don't think it's an addiction until you can't turn away from it.
If you're skipping out on your family and job to play games all the time, then you're starting to have problems.
There's nothing wrong with playing games. It's no different than people who do needlework, read, or watch tv.
This isn't scary at all....this is just simple human behavior and playing off that behavior. Its addictive in the sense you feel like you gained something thus enjoy it. I was one of those people with Diablo II and WoW but now I am so burned out I could simply not care about online gaming anymore
What is scary is the fact the government has more control over our lives and our state of health/quality of life is worse then its ever been.
It's all about moderation, just like everything else.
I use to be a wow'er and was hooked for a little bit, but after my 2nd level 80, I lost all interest. And I was talking to my friend about this and he thinks that people are addicted to wow is the ability to easily get to the highest level in a short of amount of time and have an 'accomplishment' of doing so.
But of course they know they'll expand the game, so they feel the need to 'stock up' on items/gold/gear and that's why they continue to play.
Isn't that the ultimate goal for any game? The the entertainment is there, it varies from person to person about how much time they spend on the game.but because of what these companies do, like I said, it starts out inteneded as a bit of fun in moderation and it can so easily become so much more
You just have to look at the once "casual" gamers who end up spending hours a day on MMOs or games with unlock systems in where you get stuff for doing the same crap over and over
