Case: Cooler Master 690. I have all the fans I can put throughout, its like 8 120 MM's.

Processor: Pentium D Dual core I think 280, because its 2.8ghz.
Heatsink: vendetta 2
Video card: 8600GTS.
Motherboard: Dont know but its small and can handle 4GB of ram
Ram: Well I had 4 gigs until I put vista in and it wouldnt work with it, so I have 2GB of some other stuff I had lying around. I think its 800 speed. I have a warranty with the 4 gig stuff so Im sending it back.

Right now my processor runs at about 108-110F
Motherboard around 70ish
GPU diode(guessing video card) at 125-130F.

the temps were MUCH higher in my old case, and crappy heatsink. A friend of mine hooked everything up and hes a whiz at this stuff but my heatsink fan is not on, and he said it was due to my computer will recognize when its hot enough if ever to be on. WEll Im assuming that having the heatsink fan on would make it run cooler=faster=more reliable. How can i get this fan to turn on?

I dont have anymore than like $250 or so into this computer and it serves me well...what do you think?

Also I dont do anything heavy really with my computer. I dont even play games and just really browsing. I think the 8600GTS is more than enough. I also just recently purchased a BNIB Acer 1916w for $100 bucks. My first LCD and its amazing.

so you are saying that you fan on your proccessor is not spinning?

it should be spinning all the time period!

your motherboard detects the temp of the proccessor and determins the speed it spins but its always spinning, just at different speeds...

yes I am saying that my heatsink fan for my CPu is not spinning. I looked at the cable and its connected to the motherboard under "CPU Fan"...however it is not spinning.

what do I need to do to get this to spin? I knew it should have been spinning. I think my temps would go down if it was by like 5 or so.

well my firend i think you have a problem!!!!

open up your case, whilst computer is running and find where the fan plug is on motherboard and give it a wiggle see if it starts the fan up!!! if it does you have a loose connection

What if it doesnt start up though? What if its a solid connection and the fan just wont turn on? I mean my processor idles around 109F right now(Which I thought was normal), and when my cat sits on top of my computer it reaches 120F(because he blocks the 2 120mm fans blowing air out...)

Either way I want this fan to be turned on, because from my knowledge the cooler everything is the better it runs....thats what I assume.

sorry for the late reply guys.

I had my friend hookup all the fans at full speed, everything seems to be working now. CPU is at 109F down from in the 120's
