I just heard of a new type of ram calll MRAM. I'm just wondering when it will make it to the general market and how it will change the face of computing. Have any of you heard of MRAM. Here is a link in case you haven't http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MRAM. This sounds very cool.

Never heard of it either...damn wiki said its been under development since the 1990s:D too.
 
definately looks interesting. altough.. I'm not sure weither it would be cheaper as DRAM, but I gues only time will tell ;)
 
I've heard of it before I thought it looked pretty interesting. I'll be curious to see how it compares to dram in the market.
 
I wonder what would happen if you accidentally got a magnet close to it. I've tried to destroy a hard disk with a magnet one time and it didn't work the magnet was pretty powerful too. I would hate to have something happen like that to the ram and chances are when it comes out it's going to be expensive as hell.

I don't think you would have to worry about your sound system messing things up. I have a large sound system too and don't have any problems with my hard drive.
 
Yes, they say that magnets of any strength F*** your HDD up, but i've had pretty powerful ones stuck to the side of my pc for the past 2 weeks and its not done me any harm.

It prorbably messed em up a few years ago, but technology has evolved since the coming of the Magnet plague!!!
