Hi all,

This may seem a dumb question to all you computa cleaver people but my Sempron 2800+ is Thoroughbred core.

Can someone explain to me what Thoroughbred core means?

Is this good?Bad?

As you can see i realy dont have a clue:D

Thanks

thoroughbred refers to the generation of core.

the athlon thoroughbred was a fourth generation core which was followed by fifth generation Barton and Thornton.

From what i remember the thoroughbred was a fairly good core that wasnt vastly improved upon, there were two differentt types, A and B

the A core had some heat issues and so only clocked to about 1800mhz, the B core had an extra metal layer to improve this. It was this core that eventually replaced the entire AlthlonXP line until the Barton core was introduced

Basically as they moved up the cores got tweaked to improve their speeds, heat issues etc.
