Those wonderful Macbooks...

Wouldn't you know it... Mom has a Macbook the school gave her. It's already had the motherboard replaced a couple months back (it wouldn't come on at all) All's been fine since the replacement.

She brought it home over the summer so I could help teach her how to use it, but thus far it's sat in the corner of her room unused. I tried using it by battery but it wouldn't come on. Figuring it was flat, I plugged it up and got a green light. Powered up, used it, nothing too out of the ordinary. Went to unplug it after poking around for a couple hours, it shut right off.

Battery icon is normal (not crossed out), show's it's "Plugged in, not charging". I think it showed only 26 charge cycles. Tried the PRAM and SMB resets (or whatever they're called) with no success. The school should deal with it, but I'm curious if there are any "home remedies" that may fix it.

Did :P The power light started going crazy but still no chargin'.
Oh, didnt see that:D Hmm, how long has it been sitting? Sometimes the batteries can "die" if they sit too long not being used(eg- sitting at full charge and plugged in all the time or being discharged for extended period of time)

It's probably sat for a month or two... Essentially since mom got out of school for the summer. I'm afraid that's what's happened, but heck, it shouldn't have happened in this short of time! My Fujitsu would sat for about this long and was just fine. The battery was be flat but it charged right back up :P

Working at a school I see MacBooks come in all the time with low cycle counts, but the battery does not charge. Since it's low you should be able to get a replacement for free. Also, the light would turn orange if it's charging.
