thoughts on my build?

at least go with that video card, it doesn't cost much more and it's a lot better than the one you have picked out. The one you have is only 4 pix pipelines and this one is 12, i have the AGP version of this card and if you look at my signature thats the system it's in and i can do pretty well in games like far cry and half life 2. Also you might want to change the floppy drive and card reader color because the tan would look like crap in that black case you have picked out. Also if you're planning on spending that much money on a computer even the x1600 video card would be a bit on the cheap side. You might want to look into getting something more high end seeing as how you'll be running a high end processor and very fast ram. you might even look into the x1900 series card if you want to stay with ati or maybe a 7900 series of nvidia card.

I have the same cpu and mobo only I am running 7900gtx and I am using water cooling because I over clocked my cpu to 3.2ghz...great system but I would get alittle better video card if I was you and think about other cooling options if you plan to over clock at all. The 6600 responds real nice to over clocking and makes a huge difference.

The X1600pro is the worst midranged card on the market, the 7600GS can outperform it easily

You can get 7600GT for $78.99 after Rebate, it will kick X1600 ass

Thats ^^ a bad suggestion

For nvidia I suggest this one

This ^ one has higher clock speed and memory speed and cheaper

ok

thanks for all the replies, i knew the video card would be a debate, but remember I am not a gamer, but i would like to get a good card, so you all know a lot more than I so I will no doubt go with one of your suggerstions. On the issue of cooling, i was planning on overclocking, as i read this cpu/mobo is great for this. I do not think i want to get into liquid cooling, so other cooling options besides what i have? i did some research and read all great reviews on this cpu cooler
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1482306&CatId=0, its fan pulls in air and the case i chose has a cpu vent in the side, so along with the frant and rear fans, a cooled hd and a gpu with fan, think i'll be "cool" enough?

Ok wait a minute. If you're not going play games you do NOT need to overclock. That CPU is plenty fast. I have it and I play games and I don't even keep it overclocked. If you want to OC just to do it thats fine. But I caution against it.

?oc?

True, i am not a gamer, i also was not set on oc'ing, i have never but wanted to try maybe a little, nothing crazy. how do you like that cpu?

1. If you're not looking to play games a cheaper video card will be sufficient.
2. You don't need a USB card, USB ports come on the motherboard
3. You don't really need HDD cooling either.
4. The Integrated sound on the motherboard is quite good. While i'm not sure what you'll be using the PC for, i'd avoid that sound card.
5. For CPU Cooling, I prefer the Thermaltake Big Typhoon or Typhoon VX.

Other than that, it looks good.

The card i picked was better than the one he picked, i don't really run anything nvidia in my computers so i don't know what the best would be in that area. Thanks for the correction tho.
