I am new on this forum and just wanted to here what people think of my newest rig. Here is what it is made of

Any thoughts or suggestions on how to make this better would be appreciated. Thanks
 
All looks good except the PSU... HEC are not known for quality... and in fact it may only be a 550w or so unit.

Should have gone with a Corsair, Thermaltake, OCZ, CoolerMaster and the like. All of them are better than HEC units.
 
Definately replace that PSU with something of better quality. That HEC unit will not have overvoltage protection and will be prone to failure compared to a unit from a quality manufacturer.

You may wonder why i linked to units at both SVC and directron while one may be cheaper than the other, simply because they may go out of stock at either place, and both are good deals. But also, SVC offers local pickup in cali, and Directron offers pickup in Texas.


Now....no more excuses about why you are running a chiefmax/diablotek/codegen/apevia/rosekill(er, rosewill)/etc cheap power supplies

I have a few ideas for you. Buying a Full Tower Lian Li case is like $200. Buying a case like that and spending $90 on an old GeForce 8200 series motherboard is not a good idea. I would buy a $60 Antec 300 case and put another $100 into the motherboard and processor.

Do you really need a $200 SSD just for the operating system either. A $60 Western Digital Black would be just fine. Save that money and put it into a better power supply. A decent 650w unit fro Corsair or Antec would run you about $100 and would run everything just fine.

What is you max budget for this build? There are people here that will help pick everything.
 
This machine is already built. I know the PSU is the next thing I am going to change. And for some of the other questions I got the LianLi case for free from someone who had no idea what kind of case they were giving away. As for the SSD I bought that new on ebay for only 100 and the windows 7 was purchased for only 30 through my university. The motherboard will probably be the next thing after my PSU to be changed but I ended up picking that board up for about 30 with a mail in rebate and it works for the time being.
 
This has kind been a build that has changed alot from the time that it started in September of last year. I kinda add and upgrade things as opportunities arise. I scout eBay and craigslist alot looking for the next best deal. And up to this point I have less than 1000 in this entire including the monitors and keyboard.
