Thoughts on Sony?

I was wondering on what are peoples thoughts on the Sony Vaio for a laptop?

Sony do make great quality desktops/laptops but like said above theyre a bit pricy.

Price doesn't bother me to much cause I have to look for a laptop to get off this certain website (for military) and they list some laptops and they give HUGE discounts and they had alot of Sony Vaio's and some Asus...I just don't know which one to get lol

I got a sony. Brand new back in 2004 it retailed for $2600. I see refurbished ones still bring in $1400.

Asus makes excellent laptops, and if you are into gaming at all then they offer much more in terms of dedicated video cards in their laptops.

I have a viao i have that i got for free 2 years ago they are quite costly but mine still runs like a champ although the bearings on one of the fans is going bad and it can be loud...

i'd rather get a asus, lenovo or toshiba if it's just clerical tasks, music and internet browsing.

sony's are shiny though.

I like the Sony's for slimness and style but they are pain sometimes with drivers and certain Sony hardware. They always put some proprietary POS inside them.

I always liked Sony. I'm sure their are better companies out there but I've never had any major problems with them.

sony laptops are made by asus... which in turn uses parts from everybody. all sony does is slap on the outer cover that has their logo. the carbon fiber outer covers, as seen on their more expensive notebooks, are durable, lightweight, and obviously expensive. their magnesium covers are a step below the carbon.

only get a vaio if you want to show off as it is stylish. the quality is comparable to other companies now.
