Hello all, i am new to this forum but i have already learned sooo much just from reading it. However, i have a question. I have been recieving horrible e-mails and i waqnt to know who it is. They want so but they know an aweful lot about me. I dont want to tell my husband because of what he might do. I found their profile but it is soo vauge its useless. Is there any way to find out their name or adress from an e-mail address? I dont feel in danger or anything its mostly just rude sexual stuff. Any suggestions...? Thanks...Michelle

The first thing to do there is notify your ISP directly of this. They will in turn retrace the sender as well as notify the proper authorities. Let the law do it's job and prosecute the perp. Knowing who it is is their task there.

So all i would do is call my ISP, and give them the e-mail address? I have to be honest, I did some threatening of my own as well in an attemt to "scare" em off or whatever. I think it is one of my students and i would rather handle myself and offer counseling as thats part of my job. If i knew it was some one other than a 12 year old student i wouldnt hesitate to call.

You should report this anyways and let them trace the sender. They will have the IP signature/address and simply trace the source. Any minor will be punished as such mostly by the parents! when found out.

If you log onto the mail server provided by your ISP there should be a report email option or contact information for reporting seen there. You remain anonymous when they proceed from that point on. You might simply be receiving mail intended for someone else inadvertently and should never reply giving out your own address.

Yeah that can be easily traced, but you might need to get authorities in on it like he said. They wont give that info to anyone but if the feds start knocking on your ISP's door or the mail service provider they have to give that person up.

The thing to note about the incoming mails would be who those are directed at. If there is no reference to you personally or anything familiar you can simply block the sender. That will prevent any further mailings from that source.

By sending anything back however you not only gave out your personal address but also confirmed a valid email address for mailings from even other machines by the same source if one address is blocked. That wasn't a good move on your part there.

If traced to a school computer's IP address finding the student or person involved is also finding proof for that. In other words catching them in the act. But for not knowing where let the ISP and authorities deal with the harasser.

These e-mails are very clear on certain things like the color felt on our pool table which happens to be a rare color. Or comments made on a new horse the day after we turned it to pasture! Deffinitly meant for me. Simply blocking would not satisfy me as bad as that sounds. I either want to help the child or beat the adult, depends on who is sending them!.

Yeah sounds like its either a prank or a serious threat.

I would contact the ISP then contact the local authorities. If it was some random clown sending emails no fear but to know where you live and what the inside of your home looks like is to much of a thing to over look. Your just asking for a possible bad situation.

Though id beat the child and adult.....child that thinks that's fun needs a good red @$$. My folks never spared the whoopins and my sister and myself came out just fine....not like half these jack-off kids now a days.

I would advise contacting the ISP or local authorities without hesitation to get started on this fast. While it may be a prankster's bit of fun "someone" knows a bit too much about you from that description and could be intending harm.

Don't take chamces being dorsile on this. If soneone is intending harm you can't waste time pondering since your job places you in a public spot.

If you have a printer which most do print out a few and move these to the drafts or another folder to clear out the inbox for the time being. But save them for showing as well as logging any return information like IP address from sender seen on them.

One thing to add here is the possibility that these are being sent from a public place like a school or library and not at a private residence. The one or more then has to be caught in the act or seen at the exact same time in the case of security tapes. That's where the authorities have to come in.
