thunderbird help

I am going to get thunderbird to get my mail and I need help.

I have verizon so I have to go to their website to get my mail.

Just like if you had Yahoo mail.

Do I need to do anything to thunderbird to get my mail?

I think this is what they call web mail right?

You need to set it up with your user name and password from your internet provider and enter email server settings. It's just like outlook express and Outlook.

thanks but

So I don't need the webmail plug in?

Wen I setup outlook I remember I had to select POP 3 from the list in the settings. And I thing and see on youtube Thunderbird does not support pop3?

I am using Thunderbird and it automatically enters the connection info. I believe mine is a pop3 server and it worked fine.

I don't recollect anything happening automatically with a new account. You should be prompted when setting up a new account manually. Otherwise, in the Account Settings / Server Settings you enter the POP3 address of your service. The outgoing SMTP server setting is at the bottom of the Account Settings (left side) if you are not prompted for it. It will then appear at the bottom of the general settings for the account (right side).

For me, when I first set it up, after I entered my email and password, it found the connection settings automatically.
