Time for a new computer

Im thinking of retiring my msi neo4 platinum and would appreciate advice on what board, parts etc including case to use for my new build. Iam thinking of using windows7 as my OS and the system will mainly be used for wireless internet and photo/digital pic work but my son also likes to do gaming with it. As hes off to Uni I want a system that'll be good for at least 3-4 years but at a fair price. Would anyone mind sending me info on what to utilise in the build as I do get confused with whats about and how good it is.

How much are you looking to spend and do you have any preferences on parts? (amd vs. intel, etc..)
 
Any budget?
With your use, I would recommend something like intel core i5 750, P55 mobo, 4GB RAM with ATI 5770. This is the midium gaming machine. But I don't know if your budget allow that.

The i5 750 is a great gaming CPU but comes in at $200. An i3 with the 5770 will run any game with pretty good settings no problem and save $60-80

If you want... You will be able to OC to 4 ghz and it will still stay cold :). I wouldnt OC with the stock cooler to much... Intel's stock cooler is horrible.

You will most likely want to OC if you are doing heavy digital pic work such as rendering and what not but just the everyday use you wont need much.

You will be able to OC to 4.6 ghz with temps not too horrid :). at 4.4 you should have great temps.
