time synchronizing

Hi, sorry if this is in the wrong place but i thought this would be the best area for this problem i'm having.

the time on my laptop is currently approximately 13 minutes ahead and so naturally i try to go to the clock properties by double-clicking on the time at the lower right of the screen and then going to 'internet time'

In that tab, there is a 'update now' button which i have been told allows me to synchronize and adjust my time properly. However, that button is greyed out, as well as everything on that tab. There is an 'automatically synchronize with internet time server' checkbox that IS checked but it is also greyed out.

So does anyone know what my problem is and how i can go abouts solving it. It's been bugging me for a very long time now.

Please relocate this thread if there is a better place for it mods!

i dont actually know the answer to this problem but from looking in the place u are describing there should be "server" box next to the "update now" button, is there anything written in that box, if not can u type anything in cos in mine it says "time.windows.com". if you can put this in it may fix your problem but im not sure. good luck :)

The reason its greyed out is because the windows time service probably isnt runing.

Start > control panel > admin tools > services. Look for "windows time" Right click it, go on properties, choose startup type as "automatic" and then click the start button. Give that a try!

^I agree but it's pretty much worthless in my experience.

With an HTPC/PVR it's very important to have your time synch'd to match the info in the EPG so I went with a small resident called Atomic Clock Sync. Works great as the time has been spot-on ever since.

Cheers
