timings

Hi,

Just wondering is the timings 5-5-5-15 good or not? for overclocked 667mhz ram? to 772mhz?

command rate is 2T whatever the hell that means :D

thanks my friends ;)

Can i pay you to give me some of that knowledge OMEGA? We could set up private lessons. :P
haha, I wouldn't want to drive out of state to teach people the basics.

I should have added to my previous post, but it really depends on the RAM that you have. Most budget/value RAM won't get to the higher clock speeds and lower timings that high end RAM offers, but I would say you should be able to hit at least 4-4-4-12 @ 2.0-2.1v.

Hi,

what it is i have 2x 1Gb Pc6400 and 2x 512Mb PC5300 so obviusly the 2gb of pc6400 is going to be slowed down to the slower ram speeds.

then because i have oc my cpu it has raised the memory.

what you recommend i do?

i might think you will gain a few FPS if you take out the 512's and tighten the timings on the other ram to like 4-4-4-12, thats what i would do.

yeah but a gig is ALOT of ram to loose isnt it :o

didnt realy want to take it out :)

no a gig isnt a lot to lose, 2 gigs is still great performance and since you will probably be able to take that ram up to much higher speeds, like 900mhz and the like, the 512 sticks just dont cut it.

but if your weary of trying that then do a 3dmark06 with them in and with them out, (make sure the speeds on your ddr800 sticks are really high though or its not a really fair race lol) and that will give you your answer.

okay what i think il do is buy another 2gb or pc6400 to replace my 1gb of slow ram....that will give me 4gb of 800Mhz

then after ive re-applied thermal paste to my cpu (dont like temps atm) i will try and overclock to 3Ghz.

i have gone to 2.8Ghz on cpu before and stable.

as long as they dont hit 60C then i'd say your fine, and 60C is still pretty good.
anyways good luck.

ohh my procesor cores never go above 45c but im not happy with those temps,i want to improve it.

okay back onto the memory,If i purchase this

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/119273

and replace my 2x 512mb pc5300 will my ram still run in dual channel?

or will i need 2 sticks of 512mb again?

i think il just get a gig instead of 2.

i dont really know if it will still run in dual channel or not. i've heard that some motherboards can and others cannot. your running a 32 bit OS anyways, so i would really only advise upgrading to 1 more gig.

ahh okay thanks,i suppose i could always email MSI and ask them if it would.

yes at the moment im running 32 bit Ultimate but i also have 64bit Ultimate aswell ;)
