Timings

I know that RAM timings are important and what I want ideally (ty FAQ).
but all I can really find for DDR2 in the 2gb(2x1gb) on newegg is 4-4-4-12 or one 3-3-3-8 pqi. Cost is somewhat of a factor in this and I dont necessarily plan on overclocking really..

thanks.

If you're running a board where this is an option, the budget and bang-for-buck option is probably to go with DDR as the high performance DDR2 stuff is quite expensive. The gist of it is DDR2 features higher clocks but also at significantly increased latencies (with the exception of the really pricey stuff)

So you have a DDR2 Board? If so, well the DDR2 are known for higher timings, but they a have a much faster clock speeds. DDR on the other hand have better timings but the clock speed is slower (overclokcing could give a nice boost ;))
