here's an article indicating the price drops of the X2 after Conroe is launched. That's bad news for some fanboys who have been pointing out the high price difference between the X2s and Conroes. Now it will be better for the end consumer. Yay!

Even with the price cuts, a similarly priced Core 2 Duo will outperform it's AMD X2 counterpart.

Perhaps, but you don't know what the missing 2mb cache could do to the Conroe's performance. It's an important unknown.

personally... i think they'll all be priced well... but we'll have to see how they overclock. theres no way im paying $300 on another cpu unless i can sell my current rig for a good price to a noob lol

Conroe will be launching at 300.00 bucks which they say outperforms every amd cpu's including the 1000.00 amd fx 62 chip. So why not shift to intel if the results come true and save some money.
