To Build or not to Build

I need another system and have built my last two. Everything has went ok but today in Walmart saw a HP Computer with 300 gig Sata HD, Pentium D 930 3.00 Processor 2 gigs of Memory, CD Burner, Card reader etc. For $1000.00.

Looks like my build will cost that much and now that I have done a few not sure what to do. Usually the Pc's are just not exactly what I need so I build but this one seems to be.

Any advice, I dont want to build just to build, If I am not gaining anything than my purchase this one.

Any Help would be appreciated.

Thats still very expensive.

A few months ago I got the following from newegg for $1,051:

Pentium D 930 3Ghz
Abit AW8 955x Motherboard
250GB SATAII w/16MB Cache hard Drive
520Watt Power Supply
1GB DDR2-800 (2x 512MB)
nVidia 7600GS 256MB
19" 8ms LCD
And a few other things. And today all that will cost you around $900.

Thats not that nice, it has much slower memory, poor gaming card, and is most likely just a slower IDE drive. Not to mention nothing can be overclocked.

Newegg has much better deals on identical systems.

do you already have a monitor? if you don't and you build a comp it would probably be around the same price as the hp without a monitor

Ive seen the exact same computer sold in sams club :P
but it DOES come with a mouse& keyboard and a 17" or 19" LCD

Oh and..its still around the same price

I ended up building, my 3rd pc now that I have built and went together great except for the Foxconn board 975s7aa does not have raid drivers, and they never replied to emails.

The nice thing about building is you know whats in your pc, and easy to upgrade and repair. I just need to keep all the information seperate on each pc so I know what they all have in them.
