To buy or not to buy?

Should I buy a new sound card or should I just keep the onboard audio on my MOBO. Asus A8V Deluxe?

is there something wrong with yours? why would you need to put a new one in?

Well, it depends on if you like how your integrated sound sounds. Sometimes integrated soundcards with have some static and noise associated with them from when the hard drive spins up and such.

i have a un-intergrated multimedia card but it still makes noises when hardware is used, i thought it had to do with power not being intergrated

well it would be better to get a sound card as it will probably take the strain off the proccesor when playing sounds.

Its widely accepted now that sound processing does not place that much strain on the system during gaming ... the only reason to use a soundcard really is for special effects, "fancy" support (i.e.,EAX4, THX etc) or for better quality
