I believe that it's necessary to commemorate Intel's "giant leap for mankind" today! The new Core i3 and Core i5 are out!!!! :D I've been waiting for this all week! The major things I wanted to bring up about them are:
1. The integrated GPU in them. WTF?
2. The fact that every company just came out with new H55 motherboards for them.
3. The fact that they get up to 3.46GHz, and with Turbo Boost, 3.73GHz! We haven't seen that since the Pentium 4!

I don't know about you, but I think that if I was to upgrade to socket LGA 1156, the 3+ GHz Core i5s would be my first choice!

This for like labtops? Seems utterly useless for the PC user/gamer.
I mean impressive sure but I prefer my now considered "mid" quad over the new dual-core chips. The other question is will it work with SLI systems or even single GPU to get more fps etc?

If not its a useless disabled feature at a quad price >< I mean the i5 750 my buddy has 4.0ghz on it with air...so 3.7ghz is not impressive.

Aren't the dual-cores hyper-threaded as well? If so, I'm pretty sure they still make pretty impressive CPUs for the price and TDP. I gathered the power consumption on those things is superb.

I will give you that they are cheaper but I don't see anyone buying them over a quad-core.

I wonder any good sites to see the sales of these chips? Id love to see how they sell.

Yeah, I expected that. Quad does seem like the way to go for the future, but can dual-cores be overclocked higher than Quad cores with stock cooling, since they probably don't expell as much heat?

I'm glad that Intel and Advanced Micro Devices are still making high performance dual-core processors. Most programs for desktop personal computers simply can't fully utilize quad-core processors presently.

I am guessing the price for Intel Core i5 670 Dual-Core is going to be about $200 at its release. I don't think it is worth more that. A brand new Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Dual-Core is still presently selling for around $168. I can't believe anyone would pay more than $115 for one.
