to get a x1600 or not?

the x1600 is only 81 or so dollars right now at newegg.com. basically im debating whether i should get it. im still in the agp era by the way. i know there are power differences between the pci express and agp's. overall do you guys think the 1600 for 80-90 bucks is a good buy?

Well if you can't play certain games it's not a bad buy. Personally I wouldn't upgrade an AGP card. I'd save and get a new system. Just depends on what you want right now.
 
well i dont think i can get a new system as of yet...and basically im trying to get the best out of my current set up. but yeah i would consider that if i could.

7600GS me thinks is worse than x1600 pro by the looks of it's clock speed but I could be wrong.......

Regardless, x1600Pro is a great overclocker (with an aftermarket cooler) but I would try to get something with GDDR3 because the x1600Pro is one of the best cards with GDDR2 before you get to GDDR3 which is a huge leap in performance........

Clocks don't mean everything.

X1600<7600GS<=X800GTO

Clock speed is not everything, 7600GS has much higher pixel fillrate and texel fillrate than X1600pro.

7600GS easily outperforms X1600pro and X1650pro

7600GS is a good overclocker aswell
 
my x1600 is nice, personally i like it just fine but then again i upgraded from a 9550 256 meg card. It made quite a bit of difference, i can run games like counter strike and far cry on high settings with reasonable frame rates with my setup. Also it deals with heat really well, at stock fan speed (28%) it'll get to around 60C or 65C during game play and it doesn't seem to have any trouble with it.
 
GET A 1650 XT!! way worth the money --- 24 pixel processors, decent clocks

only downside is 128 bit memory

IT IS A VERY GOOD DEAL

if not get the 1950 pro, they come very cheap sometimes for 36 pixel procs

X1950pro is a good card but the AGP version of X1950pro is very expensive.

And there is no AGP version of X1650XT as far as I know
 
yeah i like the specs on the nvidia when i check it out on the link that you guys gave me...but im kind of an ATI fan...(not hating just preference) maybe ill take that GDDR3 advice haah..

Wait, I thought XT came with GDDR3?

Regardless, if you do end up getting the 1600 Pro, watch out with the heatsink and fan because some of their heatsinks sucks......
