to get the printer going with the new netbook

Just got a netbook to replace the computer that just died.
It doesn't have an optical drive for the CD in order to connect the printer.
How to get the printer going?
The wizard box asks what to do? The options are either "intall the software automatically" - after inserting the installation CD (which I cannot do) or install from a list of specific location; and either installation media (CD-ROM) or if know the location of the software.
Then it says Windows will search for current and updated software by looking on our computer or the hardware instalklation CD, or on the Windows UPdate website (with your permission)".
Can anyone help me to get the printer connected?
 
This is something that you should always do anyway. Often, manufactures will release updated drivers that may fix certain bugs/issues. If you download them from the manufacture's site, you're always getting the most up to date drivers.
