to go 4GB of RAM or 8GB...

This is for my new bulldozer build I'm planning. It's a gaming computer and I don't do any rendering or anything like that. (Unless paint counts...) But I'm torn between 8GB and 4GB. I know I probably won't go over 4GB, but I like having that extra room. Here's the two packages I'm thinking:

or

The 4GB package has amazing timings, but I don't know if its worth not having 8GB or having the RAM with better timings. What do you guys think?

honestly id get the 8 gig, more ram vs faster ram to me wins...plus if you find you need more later...you can max the board, timings unless your very nitpicky, you will not notice...unless your constantly benchmarking or something...

ive ran into situations where ive eaten 7 gig, just doing two intensive things, really without even trying, thats why i grabbed 8 more gig while it was on sale... and there is ddr3 1333 avaliable that are in 8 gig sets for less than your paying for that 1600 stuff...

I would go for the 8GB just in case. You may not use 4GB or over normally, but maybe you will one time and then you will wish that you had the 8GB. Just my thoughts.

Unlike previous Windows, 7 will utilize however much is installed //depending on your use // the more you have, the less it will page/swap to hdd. If you have enough, you don't even need pagefile, (unless an app requires it enabled).

Get 8GB, you'll be glad you did.

Unless it's already available somewhere, GSkill is comming out with 22xx CL7 and 21XX CL6 in 2GB modules.

I say 8GB. I'm itching to get 8GB again. I can't go back now :(

Plus my firefox bloats to 800mb, constantly...

Yes I also notice Firefox does take a lot of memory when running the program.

Also, I would go with DDR3 1866 memory over DDR3 1600 RAM.

Ehh, I was thinking of using 32-bit on my 8-core bulldozer... :D

Looks like I'm going with 8GB. And I knew already to go 4x2GB. Isn't that what I posted?

So you are going with a 32 bit OS with 8Gb (4x2Gb) of RAM?

I would say go for a 64 bit OS and 2x4Gb of RAM like I said in my earlier comment

And if you are going with 32bit OS then
2x2Gb - 4Gb of RAM.

Whoops, sorry, I was being sarcastic. I guess that doesn't translate well over the internet...
