its a tough gamble the things you need to take into account when making this decision are

- do you play FPS games
- do you watch movies or other entertainment
- do you play any of your systems(if you have any)
- do you go outside or will you lock yourself up with your computer in a cave
- do you use the internet
- do you have a job
- are you a student

it seems that if you play an MMORPG such as GuildWars and own a guild and an opperational website for your guild then your not going to have much of a life. I have guild wars and a guild ect and even though I want to play GuildWars I want to play FPS games and games like oblivion and dark messiah and hang out with friends and do things with my life so I guess I am going to give up on MMORPGs

i gave up playing WoW for most of those reasons, i really count be bothered with it any more.
i now play TmNations and BHD and have much more of a life :D

Depends on the game, what you want to do (create a guild etc) and other factors mostly, but fps are the same way, sometimes even worst, i've seen a few friends calling "normal" people in real life noobs, i pwned you, etc lawl

hold up...first of all...what do you define as "having a life"? :P

as for the questions....
- do you play FPS games
i play many games. including some FPSs

- do you watch movies or other entertainment
on the pc? yep

- do you play any of your systems(if you have any)
isent a pc a system? :P
anyway, i assume you mean counsles. nope i donàt have any, why would anybody want to game on a boring counsle when you can do so much more with games on a computer?

- do you go outside or will you lock yourself up with your computer in a cave
if i really get into a game, i will spend all day on the pc. from the time i wake up to the time i goto bed....if i force myself to goto bed due to getting too tired

- do you use the internet
of course, who doesnt?

- do you have a job
yep, and its a full time job. 3 12 hour shifts, then 4 days off in a row.
its highly compatible with gameing :P

- are you a student
nope

Don't play MMORPG's all they want is all your money and time, and you need 0% skill to play them.

- do you play FPS games
LOTS
- do you watch movies or other entertainment
Sometimes
- do you play any of your systems(if you have any)

- do you go outside or will you lock yourself up with your computer in a cave

- do you use the internet

This steams me up so much. Everyone says people who play MMO's have no life...thats ridiculous. I played WoW HARDCORE for 2 1/2 years and during tht time, my cumulative GPA was 3.2, I recieved a scholarship to play football in college (thank god for that, because I couldnt afford college any other way) and I had a girlfriend. Too bad she didnt like video games or we would still be together. Just because you play an MMO doesnt mean you cant have a life. It all depends on how efficient you are while your playing. In 1-2 hours, ALOT can happen.

not to MMORPG.

I have played World of Warcraft a few months after it came out. It was the most fun at first especially because it was my first MMORPG game experience. After maybe 1.5-2 years, I some how lost control of my playtime. I would deprive my own sleep and sometimes not eat for this game. I was unhealthy and in poor health. My GPA average this year was a 2.8 which last year was a 3.33. I have never gotten lower than a 3.0.

Anyways I played The Burning Crusade when it came out and overall it seemed like the same deal, except it's more grinding based. Blizzard nerfed the drop rates and spawn rates of the mobs for reputation turn-ins and motes like crazy, so grinding would take maybe 4x longer before they nerfed.

After I quit World of Warcraft, many things changed for me: started to go out more, eat better, work out, prioritize my time more efficiently, felt better about myself, expecting a 3.5 GPA for the fourth quarter, I actually had space to actually and literally walk on my bedroom floor, and other personal things.

I didn't have to play overtime right? Well, I did because I wanted to be "top-notch" and compete with others, which requires a lot of time, so thats probably one of the reasons why I was a "f**k-up" It's really your life if you strive high for this game.

It doesn't necessarily apply to everyone but I think World of Warcraft is the game for you if: you have a lot of time, you are a real life screw up(so this is what can keep you away from your effed up real life), you want to play usually just one game(World of Warcraft or what ever the MMORPG is), don't care about your health or social life and possible other damages, want to lose your friends or not see them much, and other things I don't want to think to list it here.

Played a little bit of Oblivion but got bored after 20 hours or so and got irritated of the bugs. FPRPG aint my type I guess, also I made a commitment not to play RPG-based games.

I just play BF2142 for several hours a week on weekends now. Sometimes on my PS3-Madden NFL-07(waiting for summer and winter PS3 game releases)

By the way anyone has any idea if Blizzard is working on other projects besides World of Warcraft?

Sorry if anything above seemed offensive in any way to anyone.

I agree with you... basically, what it comes down to is self-control... I play GuildWars every weekends with my friends for like 5-6 hours straight and we still go out for dinner before that... I got a girlfriend too though she don't play GuildWars with us (no matter what I said to her to get her to play). She plays CS:S tho... so no complain there :D:D

As I am doing internship right now, I always play GuildWars everytime I finish work... probably not as much when the school semester starts again... tho I will still go at it but AFTER I have done all my chores (homeworks, projects, etc, etc)

The statement "It requires no skill" is bullshit. I'll leave it at that for the sake of my self image, as if i went into detail i'd degrade myself to no end.
