To much?

Do you think that BFG Geforce 6800 Ultra 256mb for 499.99 is just alittle to much? Is it really worth the money I mean in the long run cause im willing to pay for it if im really going to see the difference. Or should I take a lower priced video card that is also a good card and just sink more money into the cpu or what else. Cause im building a gaming pc and I think the video card is very important I like good graphics. But im getting a Amd 3500, BFG Geforce 6800 Ultra 256mb card with hopefully 2GB of memory and the motherboard is being narrowed down right now into what I want to get. But you think I should keep it since im willing to buy it or should I drop down to something else and upgrade cpu or something else?
 
get an
amd 3500
1 gig of good memory no need for 2 gigs big overkill
and a 6800gt or ultra (remember gt can be oc to an ultras speed)
 
I have never oc'ed and have no clue on how to do it. I wish I did know how to overclock something cuase i heard that would save a hell of alot of money. Is there any good information sites that you could show me to so I could mess around and learn?
 
Ok im thinking of droping the Ultra and going with 6800GT and ocing it. But now I must changed my Asus AV8 Deluxe cause it dosent have PCI Express! Do you have any other suggestions on another mobo for this? This is a big change in my whole setup i was close to doing the Ultra but now im going with 1gb instead of 2 and the 6800GT instead of the Ultra
 
The MSI NEO2 939 NFORCE 3 Ultra I find is around 400 dollars right? But the MSI NEO2 939 NFORCE 4 Platinum is like 123.00 but it also dosent support the PCI Express.
 
I was looking off of pricewatch and all they had was 6800GT PCI Express and 6800 PCI is there a difference from the PCI express and the PCI or APG performance wise?
 
just the bus transfer speed which except for a PCI card is basically moot (PCIe has more bandwidth than can be used currently, as does AGP8x)...are you sure there was a PCI 6800?

There is a big difference between a 6800GT and a 6800 non GT. If the agp and pci express is both 6800GT then there not a performance difference because it does not use the AGP to it fullist abilty so there not a limiting factor on either. You saw a pci express and a agp version. I very very much doubt you saw a pci version of that card. If you really saw a pci version please link it so we can get praetor to eat his shoe :P (hopfully someone will remember the other thread and get the joke)
