To upgrade or buy new

Greetings folks.

Is it possible to upgrade my e-machine with it's Intel integrated graphics to maybe another chip?
HD is big enough and I have tons of RAM, it's the graphics that are hindering me.

I have a Intel Celeron 2.30 GHz with 1.00 GB Ram and this stupid Intel graphics controller 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV

Do you know if you have a PCI-E or AGP slot available?

If you want to play the newer games, the Celeron is going to hold you back alot.
 
Nope.
When I bought it (2 years ago) I ran down to get a real expensive graphics card, came home, opened it up and found NO slots. Back went the card.
I think I'm screwed.

What would be your price range for a new computer? You can build one off of Newegg.com, and we'll step you through the process.

I'm convinced I need to build a new one.
Next question. How hard is it to build one? I'm no dummy and it doesn't scare me to to tear into them, having changed drive, RAM, cards on my sons, fans etc.
My fear is, if I build one and it doesn't work, where do I go to GET it to work.

I run a very small business but LOVE gaming.
Battlefield 1942 with mods, Guild 2 looks good, that type of stuff.
I have a cable connection too.
Any suggestions?

BF1942 is very old, if those are the types of games you play then you don't need expensive hardware. However if you want to play games such as BF2142, CSS, NFSM, FEAR, ect, then you will want high-end components.

It's easy, as long as you only plug stuff in where they fit and don't try to force anything :)
 
Needing these spec's

Processor 2,8 GHz
1 GB Ram
DX9 compatible graphic-card, shadermodel 2/3

What would you suggest?
