6 month old toshiba satellite.
Today it refused to turn on, and when it did this popped up:

Is this a virus or what should I do?

I have a satellite C660D with 64-bit Windows 7.

Not turning on means it is overheating. It must cool down before the system will allow it be turned back on. Probably a fan going out. Can you hear the fan running? Do you live in a dusty area?

It's not a Windows error, but Toshiba does have a lot of monitoring software installed on their machines. Does the laptop feel like it's getting hot?

sry for double post, but i lended it to a relative who is a teacher today to use at her school, and it is pretty dusty there and it was in a bag for most of the day so that maybe why it says that

Was the computer on while it was in the bag? That's not very good, as the computer can easily overheat.

It was on sleep mode in the bag then half way through its trip in the bag (it had 3/4 battery) it turned off.

CONGRATS VOYAGER FAN THAT'S YOUR 11,000th post!

Well if it's dusty I'd suggest getting a can of compressed air and then spraying out all the dust bunnies. The dust acts as like a blanket and traps the heat.

Just spray compressed air into the vents to get rid of the dust. Holding it over a freezer isn't a great idea and it isn't really a very long-term fix. Sure the dust bunnies will build up again (as no matter what we do they're never gonna get extinct! ;) ) but when they do just take a can of air to the laptop and spray them all out again.
