Toledo and Manchester?

How much difference would the Toledo's L2 Cache: 2 x 1MB make over the Manchesters L2 Cache: 2 x 512KB performance wise?

And

Would a Amd 64 x2 4400 Toledo be worth a hundred dollars more than the Amd 64 x2 4200 Manchester?

i don't suggest the 4200+. personally i think if you're going cheap (for dual core) go opteron 165, if not then get the 4400+. i hadn't known about the opteron 165 when i bought so i ended up with a 3800+, which is also a good choice :)

Here are a few tests showing the differences between them:

3DMark CPU score:
4400+ = 6164
4200+ = 5954

4 extra FPS in Doom 3

8 extra FPS in UT2004

As apj said, it wouldnt be worth spending $100 for the difference.

which 3dmark? 01 id say bad increase... 06 id say good increase. personally id prefer just going with an opteron 165 and o/cing it. :) that way u get the extra cache (which you can't increase) and lower frequency to save money (which you CAN increase)

I agree with this statement whole heartedly.
