my lenovo c200 has an CoreDuo T2350 . It idles at around 60 and goes up to maximum 75 under load. Too hot?

its a laptop its just got a standard heatisnk/fan type thing built in.

Maybe i should buy laptop cooler or something?

Is the fan on all of the time??? or on and off???

When you had a look at the temps, what surface was it on???

basically on and off all the time, it turns on when it hits 60 and revs up more every 5 degrees or so.

its on a desk.

Lift the back of the laptop up from the desk a little, so the fan can breath.

Get or make some little legs for it!

as soon as it boots up it goes from 57 to like 62

theres a small grille on tne base and a large exhaust on the side.

raising it up off the desk only drops it to 57-59 idle instead of like 59-65 idle

gonna give the cooler a try

dont kow if it will work though

when its raised, and the window is open, it only drops like 3 degrees

whats wierd is if i make my room really really warm, then the fan runs alll the time and it idles at around 50-55

i just need a tool to change the fanspeed

not an option

and i have discovered that REALTemp shows like 55 while SpeedFan shows like 38 for core and disk, and like 47 case temp.

wtf is going on there

which one do i trust?

Get Core Temp & PCWizard, and see what the general consensus on your temps is... if readings of only one program are off, it's just playing up on you. Some programs just give inaccurate readings on certain CPUs.

Also, can you not monitor the temps in BIOS?

no, the BIOS is really basic.

all 4 seem to be showing the same now, which is wierd. ~47 idle. - thats after i underclocked the CPU by 50%.

75C isn't that bad. I've seen laptops hit 100C before without much trouble (besides a hot lap). Remember, laptops are designed to get really hot. Now if this is desktop...then it'd be a little troubling.
