Too hot?

This is sort of a follow up on my Aftermarket VGA Cooler thread but everyone stopped responding to me so I'm going to post a different question.

I've decided that I'm either going to get the VF900 or the VF1000 to cool my 8800GT (depending on how much better the VF1000 is). It's overclocked to 720/1800/2000 and maxes around 75C on all my games. Would I need to get heatsinks for the MOSFETs and voltage regulators along with the aftermarket cooler? That would be an additional $10 + S&H. If the provided thermal paste is garbage, I might have to get some AS5 which is another $5 + S&H. I'm basically looking at $70 to keep my card away from 75C, is this worth it? (Unless I only buy the cooler) Thanks!

maybe stupid reply but:
it depends of the termal reach of your card and between wich temps it's built to work. eg i have gd 4870 x2 who is built to work in temps of around 90-100 degrees C i don't know what the temps are for the 8800 gt.

forgot to mention: if you want to further overclock i think you better buy a good aftermarket cooler and all the other shit...

cards max temps are avr higher then cpu maxs but think you knew that already.

Well as far as I've heard, the 8800GT is notorious for running hot. It's been said that it can hit a top of 100C, but I just don't want it to hit that high, for the safety of my other computer parts too.

I'm planning on getting the VF900, question is:

1. Would I see noticeable cooling increase by replacing stock thermal paste with AS5?
2. Would I be able to run the VF900 efficiently with the included thermal paste?
3. Would I need to cool the voltage regulators and MOSFETs on the card.

It's all just more money, but if I don't need new thermal paste and if I wouldn't need to put heatsinks on the chips then it would only be a $35 upgrade for me.

here's what i think. I can imagine you want to keep your card cool, it's your decisision, and maybe indeed better for the durability (dunno if it's an english word forgive me:p) of your card and other parts.

About the paste, i yesterday ordered my mugen 2 and i bought as5 to use instead of the standard. Because i had such big problems with the bad paste that was applied on my intel stock cooler. So i would buy the as5 or other thermalpaste in addition to the cooler to be shure you don't loose capacity off your cooler because they gave bad thermalpaste with it.

about the voltage regulators: is you old cooler cooling them or not? because when he does i would buy extra coolers for those. Otherwise, if you are not going to voltmod or do shit like that with you graphics card, i don't see wy you would do that.

I'm not doing voltmods, but yes the stock cooler touches them. I've just heard some people installing aftermarket coolers with heatsinks on them and some without. I was just wondering which way I should go. And I'm not overclocking too much, the card came factory overclocked at 700/1600/2000 and with an "improved fan" to help with the temps. Right now I idle around 61C and peak at 75C. So I'm pretty much only overclocking the shaders by 200MHz and the core by a little.

First of all, are you really shure the vf900 cools better then your cooler wich is installed right now? Because when it is already an improved cooler, for overclocking, i think you should watch the differences ( if there are any, and if it's enough to make you pay it)

I think you could better buy the volt regulator coolers also, when your standard cooler also cools them, i'd say that would be safer and not much more money. And if you would want to voltmod one day you can do it without paying another time.

i would get the vf 1000 because it shows better on most tests, isnt much more expensiven and is with memory modules.
