too large a desktop

Too large everything. I had my computer updated which required a new mother board and CPU. Windows XP Pro was reinstalled (clean). The icons on my desktop respond right to adjusting the scree size, however, there is a lot of extra unused room around the icons. This problem carries over with my browser too. How can I adjust it to fit my screen as it did before? My second monitor (used to hole PhotoShop tools) seems to be fine. Thanks

I am kinda confused. There is extra room around the icons? Are you talking about your DPI settings maybe? right click desktop go to properties, settings, advanced, and try raising or lowering the DPI settings. Also try properties, apperance, effects, Use large icons. Let me know if one of those is what you are talking about.
