Took Apart this Beauty Today - OLD COMPUTER

In lieu of my interest in building my own computer, I took apart this Dell computer from 2000, if not earlier. Pentium 4 processor and STILL has an FDD. It was an extremely fun take-a-part and rebuild. Unfortunately this is the only photo I can upload due to size limits.

Upload somewhere else like Flickr. You can then link the picture straight into the post.

I have a few old Dell's like that in my basement. I took one apart one summer afternoon and then promptly smashed it to bits with a hammer and an axe. It was so cringy yet slightly satisfying to see all those bents pins. I promise I'm not a psycho....

That other machine is still down there. I pulled out the hard drives from both machines and one of the actual platters is hanging from my roommates rearview mirror on some string.

Careful with those cases! They'll get ya, sharp metal everywhere.

Yeah that looks pretty much exactly like what mine are/were. Those CPU coolers are strange and prone to getting just LOADED with dust. Did you flip up that green shroud and see what's underneath?

That Dimension is more from 2004/2005 or so. The ones from around 2000 had different cases.

Kinda what I was thinking but didn't know enough to say. The machines I have look almost identical and are from right around 2004. Dimension 2400 and 2350 I think is what they were. The 2350 was my previous machine before my current.

Edit: Just found this review. It's really concerning that this thing was my second most recent desktop that I used. Kinda funny to read through about how "fast" a 2GHz Pentium 4 is. Article is from 2002, older than I thought. http://www.cnet.com/products/dell-dimension-2350/

Well when your little everything is distorted memory-wise, I just assumed 2000, hahaha. It actually makes more sense now because I really remember using that thing around fourth and fifth grade.

Firm build none the less! It was a fairly self-explanatory dismantle.

Yeah, Dell's are easy to work on except for new Inspiron laptops where you need to remove the motherboard to replace the hard drive.

Dude it was completely nasty, I don't even understand why they had to make an exhaust fan double as a cpu cooler like whyyyyy
