I'm on the computer, and I had a sweatshirt on that zippers up fully on the front. Unzipped then I pulled off my sweatshirt, felt a minor shock then the screen went black, computer rebooted.

I had headphones on which were plugged into the headphone input on the computer. (Bose QuietComfort15 Headphones)

Is this a freak occurrence? Or is this a something I should look into?

Has anybody else experienced this?

Appreciate responses.

probably a one off never heard of it before, im assuming the zippers were metal zippers were you touching any part of the pc or cables at the time ?

lol
one of my hoodies does this, build up static electricity. i need to throw it out before this happens to me.

you could try grounding yourself maybe?
put one of those antistatic mats under your feet

Ive had it happen to me also. I even seen a spark and shock occur touching something but not a computer. Cold winter climate is a good candidate for shock. Only seen in the winter months and sliding for feet on the floor.

A cold dry climate is a killer in Winter. Never rebooted the PC as reported this thread, but you have to be oh so careful touching any electronics.

If I get up during the night in complete darkness, first of all I get a discharge between eyelashes and face as I open my eyes, then a crackling light show if I touch the bed cover and a whopping jolt touching the door. A grounded wrist strap would be highly useful before touching one's privates!
