Tooo hot!!!

Hi,

I don't have much knowledge about cooling and CPU temperatures but I think the temperatures of my CPU and GPU are way to high..

For example while playing Crysis:
CPU is about 48 C (AMD Phenom II x4 965BE)
GPU is around 87 C (Gigabyte GV-R485MC-1GI)

Is this normal? I got a pretty good casing, it has 4 fans and they are blowing on full speed (don't know rpm)

Any advise maybe? I could install 2 more fans in my casing or should I get water cooling?

Okey thanks!

your cpu temp is absolutely fine, gpu seems a little on the hot side...
i think the cooler on that 4850 looks crap!! does it even have a fan on it?

if your gpu is that exact model i would buy an aftermarket cooler for it (dam that gpu looks ugly as asse)

You could get better GPU cooling, but really those temps are fine.

Depending on CPUs, 60C is acceptable. GPUs can go to 100 C without frying (although I would be worried at that point).

4850's max temp is some where in the 120c area. reaching 100c under load is completely normal for these cards. now it was an nvidia, that would be a whole different story

bollocks ganzey. that is too hot.

it is a passively cooled card that is designed more for a silent pc not a gaming pc.

wack a 120mm fan on that heatsink with some thermal tape and it will drop by half.

i didnt say that it wasnt hot, im just saying that it is an ok temp for that card. his card reaches 87c, and the max temp before crashing is around 120c.

Well a cheaper route after looking at your gpu what might help a lot is this. It looks like your GPU is fanless correct?

Add a 80mm or if its big enough a 120mm fan to the GPU heatsink. Take some string or zip ties if they will fit to "stick" it to the heatsink of the GPU. Make sure to have it push air INTO the heatsink and you should notice a huge drop in temps. It doesn't have to be perfect...I used garbage bag ties on my uncles and I even used electrical tape to stick a fan on it :P

Its a $10 solution vs buying a new gpu/aftermarket cooler.

*edit*
If you want to test it out take one of your case fans out and test it out on it. It wont hurt your case temps much and will allow you to freely test to see if it will work. If it does buy a nice Scythe fan for silence + air flow.
