Torrents messing up my router?

My friends and I use BitTorrent Sync to share files (believe it or not, it's legit files - school projects, photoshop/video files etc)
I have my server limited to 1MB/s down and 300KB/s up on a 100/10 mbit connection.
I've built up quite a few trackers on various torrents, which is what I think causes the problem.

When the server is on, all wired connections in the house gets messed up. Wireless is just fine.

The connection goes: Server -> 4 port switch -> 100 port switch -> Router -> Fiber box -> ISP
Wireless is: Computer -> Router -> Fiber box -> ISP

Seeing as wireless works fine and the server is limited to about 10% of the entire connection, I can only assume it's the amount of connections/trackers that's bogging down the 100 port switch that connects the entire house.

Any suggestions or input? Something I've missed?

It's about time to upgrade to 1Gbps for your LAN, especially with a 100Mbps WAN connection.

I use BitTorrent Sync and have no issues.

Two things come to mind:

A) Half open connection limit

B) Maximum ports available and time outs.

In my router flashed with a third part firmware called DD-WRT I have the options pictured. If your router has something similar try that.

Also, consider peerblock and add China, Taiwan and Russia to the block list. When you download the lists from iblocklist you need to rename the extension to .p2p. Add the file to peerblock's directory of lists and use the client to add the lists. https://www.iblocklist.com/lists.php?category=country

I never allow input traffic from uTorrent. It works fine without input traffic. It uses peer exchange. In bittorrent I would disable add firewall exception. This is just a way to hack into your network. I never have to port forward either and UPnP should be off.

What may be happening is that your flooding the NAT table of your router. Try going into Bittorrent and lowering the max connections. https://www.raymond.cc/blog/stop-bittorrent-from-killing-your-internet-connection/
