Toshiba Battery Life

Hello there all. Sorry to bother you, but I have a concern about the battery life I am recieving on my Toshiba M65 laptop. It is supposed to get about 4 hours in one charge, and I have seen this on several websites, so it must be possible. However, mine only gets about a 2 hour 30 min charge. I also notice it does not take eight hours to get to a full charge, like the guide manual says it should. Should I let it charge for the full eight hours (overnight) and see if it makes a difference? Also, all my settings are set to low power consumption (for example, my computer only uses brightness level 3 at the most on battery), so it should last longer, but I see no significant improvement. Any help on this topic would be appreciated. And just to help, the model is M65-S9091. Thanks in advance!:D

you could probrably try that, i know on my Latitude, it's takes, from a fully dead battery, about 10 hrs. 4 a lcharge.

You're suppose to charge it overnight BEFORE using it :P However, with Lithium batteries, I hear that no longer really matters.

Toshiba's have never been well known for bettery life. I had a PDA and was lucky to get about an hour out of it(I returned it fairly soon after realizing that...) Your times are probably correct. I bet if you look around, those 3 hour ratings are with the screen on the lowest brightness setting and with Wifi off. That REALLY makes a big difference. Also, if you can under clock your processor, that helps. With my laptop, I've gotten around 3 hours out of it and most sites say it only gets about 2! That's WITH wifi on, but bightness down and underclocked.

I have a tosiba laptop and the battery time is only an hour, sucks. Charge time is about 4.

Like I said, they usally don't have the best battery life. That's never been Toshiba's strong point... As for charge time, again, particually with older style batteries, you are suppose to charge them for around 8 hours/over night when new. But Lithiums are much improved over the old style NiCd's and such. It doesn't hurt to charge it over night, but it helped...eh, set the memory with the old style batteries...in a way... I'm pretty sure if you DIDN"T charge them all the way, they wouldn't charge past the point where you let them charge to.

yeah and also the older the battery the less time you get out of it. i wouldnt be surprised as the other one said. 2:30 is probably all you will get out of it. when companies advertise, they say 'with up to 4 hours battery life' this is probably achieveable when all settings are on lowest, and you are not running any complex programs such as games

I still get almost 3 hours out of my Averatec, and it's probably right around 1 year old now... *knocks on desk* It's probably going to die totally tonight :P

Well, when shopping and looking for these types of things.. you got to consider the English involved.

Did they say "atleast 4 hours" or "up to 4 hours" or "approximately 4 hours"

atleast? then it probably wont.
up to? then it should.
approximately? probably wont.

I have a Toshiba. Low comsumption, the battery lasts me about 3 and a half hours. Full power, it lasts about an hour 30 minutes.

Then, you can take into consideration of what you do while with the battery. The types of programs you use affect its comsumption.

Then overcharging and undercharging the battery. That will kill the battery life also. Then also how long you have had your laptop.. its longevity.
