Toshiba L40-14B problem

I bought laptop Toshiba L40-14B without any CD in a computer store. I tried to install Win xp pro.
It all started here: there was no HDD found in BIOS so I went to Intel web site and downloaded Intel storage manager for Floppy disk and integrated it by pressing F6 during the installation of Windows from the Floppy disk. I choosed third driver from the list, like I should. Installation went further. Next was partition managing. I left just one partition and choosed to install Windows on it. partition formating was done.
After that started the problem - bios asks me for intel storage manager drivers on Floppy. I clicked ENTER because floppy disk was already in A disk. Nothing happened.
So, i had to restart computer. After restarting computer says that there is no ntldr founded. What now, i dont know, can anyobody help me please?
I know that there is program called NLITE for problems like this but its to complicated for me.
I red that there should be simple solution for fixing this but none knows the whole procedure for installation of win xp pro on this laptop. i also heard that Win Vista has all drivers for installation (sata etc) but here in Croatia everybody still has XP pro or home, so i worry about working Photoshop and Word on Vista and how will the files react when i put them on some XP PC.
Please help me, i have to study on laptop for exams.
Thx in advance.

If I got it correct you dont have a physical dvd rom drive on that notebook and you can acces only in FDD....
If this is the case first provide an external dvd or CD rom drive trough USB otherwise install your system repair datas on flash drive so that you will have acces to your tools and can start repairing your notebook. an original XP cd has a disk partition manager that can format and install fat or ntfs system on your HDD if you still has a problem try doing it the old fasion way run on ms dos mode trough win98 startup disk using fdd and run FDISK to partition your drive when your done with this you can now use your external dvd/cdrom drive to install windows xp and update the fat file to ntfs .....still has a problem run it on network using other conputer connected with your notebook and try repairing it there otherwise contact your retailer if its under warranty let them do their job..
