Toshiba laptop problems [RESOLVED FOR NOW]

when i boot this computer up [Toshiba Satellite S55-A5188] and type in the password [on Windows 10]
it just welcomes me for about 30 seconds, and than instead of saying Welcome, it has a loading symbol. than it loads for an infinite time

I tried everything including Factory reset. when i tried to Factory reset, it says my computer is missing a partition needed to do this. when i try to boot from a usb to reinstall windows, it just boots into windows 10 login screen like normal.

Please help

I did that already! and i also enables Legacy boot or something

but i used it to install windows 10 on 4 computers!!

so i got the computer freshly installed with windows 10. now the batter meter says 0% and charging. ITS BEEN CHARGING FOR HOURS and it STILL says this! when i pull out the charger, the laptop just shuts down. i need to have this fixed by Sunday because the person who asked me to fix there PC wants to pick it up on Sunday. do i need a new battery or what?

Commonly it's either the battery, the charger, or the charging jack where people have been abusive and broke off pins.

It's a better approach to not take jobs that are out of your depth.

well the end of the charger cord is bent a little bit. lemme try the charger for one of my other toshiba laptops.....

Okay thanks guys for all your help. i found the problem. with some experimenting and some trouble shooting, i found out that the battery is bad.

Also, could be bad charging circuit on the motherboard. You'll know when you buy a new battery and it won't charge.

You sound so surprised

the volt meter readings where around 6-7 volts.

A volt meter won't really give you a straight bad/not-bad indication. You -could- run the volt meter on the charging prongs on the laptop to verify they are outputting slightly over the rating on the battery for voltage (or on the charging brick to verify it's outputting the correct wattage), but I'd be careful not to short any pins or similar together.

Okay, im glad we are back on topic. The battery has not arrived yet. I went to my local PC shop [PC MAX] and they did not have the battery. so i got one off of amazon.

I've taken the liberty of answering for him...(see below)
