Toshiba Problem

I'm working on a Toshiba Satellite and here are the problems/symptoms.

Tunr power on, sometimes nothing just black screen also tried additional monitor, sometimes flashes a lot and then boots to windows (where after a few minutes blue screens and auto restarts, and sometimes when it comes up to the screen that asks "start windows normally...etc" the keyboard or any additional USB keyboards, does not work. I can't press F8 to get into the area to tell not to auto restart.

Something is very wrong here and I can't seem to figure it out...any suggestions?

ok, I've got it up and running...seems like it was a memory problem...but now I can't get any keyboard to function properly insdie or outside the OS. While in XP I plugged in a USB keyboard which it found and I am able to use commands like Win+R and Alt+F4 CTRL+Alt+Del, but no letters will type. I even tried using the on-screen keyboard and no letters would type??? I'm very confused...

Try checking if there are any update available.

I've installed every update possible for windows, but I still cannot use the on-screen keyboard, it comes up but only the same keys that work on the USB keyboard that I plugged in work on the onscreen...no keys are working on the laptop keyboard and only certain keys will work on the USB keyboard outside of Windows...anymore ideas??? btw, love the Hunter S. reference.

another symptom has cropped up, maybe it will help define the problem...whent he screen is at the "start windows normally" window suddenly the screen flickers a couple of times and then starts filling up with little white bars that take over the screen and sit there and "vibrate". I've never seen anything like this. Also, when it does make it to Windows it blue screens and restarts (I don't have time to turn off the auto restart to read the error)...also while in Windows anytime I click on something it pops up as if I right clicked on it, and i can't open the start menu unless I hold CTRL and click. Any suggestions people??

Okay..i remember facing the same problem with my Satellite U300..it could be because your video card is shot...i had the problem with mine a year ago. Thankfully it was still in the warranty period.

See if you can get it fixed by the manufacture itself.

My old compaq was doing that for some time. Sometimes you'd turn it on and nothing would happen, then sometimes it'd boot normally. I'm not sure what the issue was, but it started right after I added a gig of RAM. Did you make any hardware changes recently?

Sounds more like a stuck button to me.

With my keyboard (Toshiba Satellite L305-xxxx) I had a stuck X key and my caps, tab, shift, ctrl, enter and backspace keys all worked, but the others wouldn't.

It was my own fault for dropping my Zen M on the keyboard. Anyways, the keys pop off if you use caution to not break their tabs, should you happen to find a sticky/stuck one.
