Okay 3 nights ago, my Toshiba Satellite laptop stopped working. I was just online, as usual, then suddenly, the screen completely froze. The pointer wouldn't move, and the time froze. So 10 minutes later I did the manual shut down of the comp by holding the power button for a few seconds. So I let it rest for about 5 minutes. Then I attempt to turn it back on, thinking that it was no big deal. But then i got a big surprise
. Upon pushing the power up button, nothing would show on the screen, and the lights indicated no hard drive activity, and I couldn't hear the hard drive either. So I did some research and I think for sure the motherboard is fried. I think it overheated. What a waste. I bought it in March 07 and it has given me nothing but trouble. 3 months after I bought it, it overheated and then it asked for a BIOS password, and I had to bring it in to a shop so they could reset it. And then the USB ports failed. Has anyone else had this problem? I am a poor college student and this is a huge financial burden. Luckily though, the hard drive did not get wiped out. I think Toshiba sells defective merchandise, and yet, does not recall them or offer a solution without taking out hundreds more of unnecessary money from my pocket.
I'm sure it's not the LCD screen because I used an external monitor and it did not work either. I just want to make sure that it really is a fried motherboard. Thanks in advance!!
